Quarter Life crisis ERA: Life couldn’t be weirder but I couldn’t be happier

thepinkscript1998

In this day and age, the time of mainstream digital media has allowed us to be more connected now more than ever. We can see the unique perspective of people around the world, experience world events in real time, and view the many successes of others.

Our modern technological era has granted us experiences such as royal weddings and front rows to the moments that sparked changed in our time and even share humorous moments that we otherwise would have know months after the fact. been able to experience With this, there is such a wonderful joy of knowing that we can view life from the perspective of people we have never meet-especially from our same aged peers.

While this can be viewed as a wonderful thing, viewing peers growth can also come with downsides.

The thief of comparison often comes to ruin small moments of our days. In our modern era, we have limitless potential, especially for people in this current generation of young people.

At the crisp age of 25, societal expectations come to weigh heavy on us and tell us where exactly we are supposed to be in our lives. Compared to previous generations such as the boomer generation and gen x, younger generations such as Millennials and Generation Z have the leverage of time and more opportunities are their side ; but are quite limited by instant gratification.

Though age is not an indicator of success, there are moments where it may feel like it. At 25, I have seen my peers come and go in a variety of ways. By this age some are getting married, already married and having kids. In the case of many of us, I am neither. Instead, many of us got our masters degree, while still an amazing accomplishment; it sometimes doesn’t weigh the same in the the gleam eye of societal norms.

I have come to the realization that I set the tone for my own life. No one can determine the level of success that I have in my life. There is this humorous term that has gone around about the new generation of adults," We are an unserious Generation". The humor in all of this is that we are in fact an unserious generation but we have truly broken the mold from the expectations set for us. Life happens on our pace and we refuse to be rushed. Life is something we should enjoy because it can be gone in a instant.
